Training Programs

We believe that teaching is the best method towards sustainability. Rather than visit a country once to do surgery, we strive to bring our humble suggestions and trainings to local healthcare workers so that they can add modern techniques to their practice. Our goal is to provide quality eye care to all. Teaching doctors, nurses and techs allows us to provide that care vicariously. When we teach, they can care for more patients in a more successful manner.

Since 2006, HEF has been involved in the training of Southeast Asian ophthalmologists. After a change in government, we were the first Americans allowed into VietNam to start a CE program in conjunction with the Hue City Hospital. Learn more about the Imperial City Eye Meeting

Ten years later, we have had great feedback on out original ICEM conference in VietNam. So much so that Burma has asked us to put on a similar program for their young doctors. In 2015, the MEM was established. We have just completed the September 2019 Meeting – MEM-IV and will be back to Yangon in 2021 for MEM-V!  Learn more about our Myanmar Eye Meeting

The first conference in Cambodia was held in October 2018! It was a resounding success and were truly welcomed by the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital!  We are back to Phnom Penh for CEM-2 in July 2020.  Learn more about our Cambodia Eye Meeting

September 2019 we took the program to Indonesia for the 1st Indonesia Eye Meeting in Bali.  What an incredible experience with an amazing team of Doctors!  We will be joining them again in 2020 for a larger conference with more subspecialties and Skills Transfer training.  Learn more about our Indonesia Eye Meeting
