Cataract Days III, free cataract eye surgery for Hawaii’s patients in need, is scheduled for March 11, 2019. Exams and clearance appointments will be scheduled prior to this date for qualifying patients that have met with HEF staff. This year’s volunteer surgical team is led by HEF BOD Dr. Alan Faulkner of Aloha Laser Vision, and The Surgical Suites. This program is funded by a generous 5-year grant from the Atherton Family Foundation and the Friends of Hawaii Charities. We also thank our partners at Project Vision Hawai’i and the ASCRS Foundation.
To apply for this service, please contact us by email at contact@hawaiianeyefoundation.
org or by leaving a message on our office line at (808) 536-3961 by February 15, 2019. All communication is coordinated through Hawaiian Eye Foundation. Please do not call the surgeon directly. If you know someone in need of eye care, that is un- or under-insured, homeless, migrant, unemployed, or unable to afford for care due to financial hardship, please refer them to us for our upcoming Cataract Days event.
We wish to continuously extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our former Cataract Days’ surgeons. The first Cataract Days was hosted by HEF BOD Dr. Chris Tortora of Hawaiian Eye Center. He and his staff, led by Jocelyn Morales-Onza, set the bar high with their excellent service in our first year’s event. In 2018, Dr. Tyrie Jenkins and Dr. Jeff Peterson, of Jenkins Eye Care, with the help of their office manager, Pam Utu, were incredible to work with at the 2nd annual event. We look forward to working with Dr. Alan Faulkner of Aloha Laser Vision and his office staff, led by Dr. Mau, Office Manager Leona and Keala, for year 3 of this free surgery opportunity.
We hope your offices will want to become involved to help Hawaii ‘ohana in years 2020 – 2022. Call us to join this important campaign to help our kupuna and keiki alike.
