For the 1st two weeks of July, HEF’s Mission Director Dr. Jeff Rutgard and assistant Corinne Spencer, paired up again for HEF’s annual mission to Koror. For nearly a decade, Dr. Jeff has traveled to Palau each spring to care for the beautiful people of this island nation in Micronesia.

HEF is delighted to work with our friends at the Ministry of Health, coordinator Merii Besebes, and head eye nurses LT and Mariano at the Belau National Hospital.
This is always a very busy clinic as there are no permanent eye doctors on the island. Hundreds of patients of all ages were examined and surgeries were provided to all in need.

After years of Corinne volunteering with Dr. Jeff, we were excited to have Corinne’s mom join us for her first mission. HEF believes that mission work is a way of life, and that all of our volunteers are truly family.
