Summer Mexico trips with Dr. Rutgard and iSight Missions

Dr. Rutgard and iSight Missions have made three trips to Tecate and two to Tijuana since July. This has allowed his mission teams to examine and provide cataract surgeries to hundreds of patients. These continuous trips are extremely valuable in addressing the needs in these communities, eliminating the existing blindness little by little. Consistent visits allow patients to spread the word and bring others to our camps for help. They also allow our teams to see the progress they are making. We are motivated to keep serving and we thank our volunteers for their commitment to these efforts.

There is much work to be done in these areas so we are grateful for the partnership of The Flying Samaritan’s Pat Griffith, and LIGA’s Nurse Jackie Hanson for their monthly planning efforts. We also thank the dedicated team of Dr. Jerry Cook, Dr. Audrey Schwarzbein, Dr. Richard Graham, Jody Fleming, Lisa Field, Ann Ruiz, and Corinne Spencer for always being willing to serve with our beloved Dr. Jeff. Your friendship and dedication is invaluable. During this past Tijuana mission, this team even hosted a group of San Diego University Nursing students who now have the mission bug and can’t wait to return for more. Thank you, all, for inspiring the next generation of humanitarians to follow in your footsteps.

Coming up in Mexico, Dr. Jeff’s annual mission to El Fuerte is scheduled this December with LIGA. Those interested in joining us in Mexico, please contact us for the 2019 schedule.
